From international playwright Anchuli Felicia King comes a riveting new play about loyalties, intrigue and the delicate art of translation. When enterprising American lawyer Julie Chen files a class-action lawsuit involving a multinational technology corporation and the Chinese government, she hires her strong-minded sister Eva as her translator. But what compromises will they make in order to win? And can they put aside their past differences to speak the same language? Directing this fast-paced production is May Adrales (Vietgone).

In the UK she is familiar to audiences from her series regular role on BBC’s Ripper Street and recurring roles on Misfits and Silent Witness. ANCHULI FELICIA KING is a Thai-Australian playwright and artist. Felicia graduated with a Masters in Dramaturgy from Columbia University in 2018. Her debut play, White Pearl, was on the Royal Court Theatre mainstage in 2019. White Pearl was subsequently produced by the Studio Theatre in Washington DC and STC / NToP in US and Australian premieres and published by Samuel French. Golden Shield was produced by Melbourne Theatre Company in 2019 and was shortlisted for the Susan Smith Blackburn Award. Slaughterhouse was produced at the indie 25A at Belvoir in Sydney in 2019. Keene won the American Shakespeare Centre’s Shakespeare’s New Contemporaries Award and will be produced by the ASC in 2020 as part of the award. Felicia also works as dramaturg, sound designer, projection designer and creative consultant with companies including Punchdrunk, PlayCo, Roundabout Theater, 59E59, Ars Nova, the Obie Awards, The Builders Association, Ensemble Studio Theater and Red Bull Theater. Felicia is currently commissioned by the Royal Court Theatre, Manhattan Theatre Club and Melbourne Theatre Company.

May Adrales (Director) is a director, artistic leader, teacher and mother; she has directed over 25 world premieres. Her work has been seen most recently at Second Stage (Rajiv Joseph’s “Letters of Suresh”) Manhattan Theater Club (Qui Nguyen’s “Vietgone”) Signature Theater, LCT3, The Public Theater, WP, New York Theater Workshop, Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Seattle Rep, Milwaukee Rep and South Coast Rep. She was awarded the prestigious Ammerman Award at Arena Stage and Theater Communications Group’s Alan Schneider award for freelance directors.
