Maintenance Engineer

The landmark 650 seat Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, in mid-town Manhattan is seeking a full-time Building/Maintenance Engineer responsible for operating mechanical equipment and performing preventive maintenance and minor building repairs.

Responsibilities:
Engineers at MTC, under the direction of the Theatre Manager and the supervision of the Chief Engineer, are responsible for the operation of computer controlled HVAC system and related pumps and motors, including large chiller units, multiple small and medium-sized package AC units and fan coil units. Engineers are responsible for the safe and knowledgeable operation of fire and security alarm systems and for performing preventive maintenance of HVAC systems, miscellaneous pumps, motors, fans, plumbing and fire safety systems. Engineers also perform minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical repairs.

Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years related experience. Knowledge of HVAC systems and understanding of the refrigeration cycle. Familiarity with fire and security systems. Experience in low and medium pressure steam systems. Mechanical ability and basic skills in carpentry, plumbing and electrics. Higher skill in at least one of these areas is preferable.
City of New York Fire Dept standpipe/sprinker and fire alarm certificates required (or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
Additionally, EPA Section 608 Compressor Certification is desirable.
Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends and be willing to work as an effective team player.
