Assistant House Manager,
Samuel J. Friedman Theatre

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a part time Assistant House Manager for its Broadway home, the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

DUTIES: The ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER’s primary responsibility is to assist the Theatre Manager in the oversight of all aspects of front-of-house operations during performances. This includes assisting the Theatre Manager in the supervision of ushers, lobby attendants, cleaning staff and security, concession operations and maintaining the safety and well being of all persons in the building. The ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER’s goal is to maintain a first-rate level of customer service with all Friedman Theatre audience members.

The ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER, at the Theatre Manager’s direction, will schedule and supervise ushers, manage the MTC Store, complete and file reports, and assist in the supervision of the Friedman Theatre intern. Additionally, the ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER will be prepared to act in the place of the Theatre Manager in case of absence or other circumstances, as directed. The ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER will have pre-show and post-show responsibilities as well as responsibilities for other MTC and special events that may take place in the theatre. The ASSISTANT HOUSE MANAGER will be a key member of the management staff of the Friedman theatre and will also have interaction with other MTC administrative staff and departments.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should have Broadway or off-Broadway front-of-house experience. Strong proficiency with MSExcel required as well.
Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard for Places of Public Assembly certification required (or to be obtained within 3 months of hire). Fire drill, fire alarm, first aid, AED and CPR certifications not required but a bonus.

This is a part time, seasonal position working approximately 32 hours per week during performance weeks.
