Directing Fellowship ProgramManhattan Theatre Club offers two exciting fellowships to early and mid-career directors: The Jonathan Alper Directing Fellowship The Kenneth Frankel Memorial Directing Fellowship Participants in the Fellowship Program have assisted some of the finest directors currently working in the theater, including Doug Hughes, Garry Hynes, Lynne Meadow , Daniel Sullivan, Jerry Zaks, among others. The fellowship offers early and mid-career directors a unique opportunity to observe and assist the creative process of established directors. Former MTC Directing Fellows have gone on to work extensively in the American theater. They and their projects include: Christopher Ashley (Valhalla, Most Fabulous Story…), Leigh Silverman (Well, Frankie and Johnny), Trip Cullman (Dog Sees God, Swimming in the Shallows), Jackson Gay (The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow), Kevin Moriarty (Artistic Director, Hangar Theater), Maria Mileaf (Going to St. Ives, The Argument), Robert O’Hara (Insurrection (Holding History), American M(aul)), Martha Banta (Artistic Director, Adirondack Theater Festival). How to apply: Applications for the 2009-2010 Season are due on December 31, 2008. This program allows early and mid-career directors the opportunity to observe the work of master directors and choreographers as they create new productions on Broadway, off-Broadway and at leading regional theatre.
